The Subaru Forester is excellent for driving in snow. With All-Wheel-Drive as standard and a ground clearance of 8.7 inches, the Forester can tackle snowy terrain with ease. Features such as EyeSight Driver Assist, X-Mode, ABS, and Vehicle Dynamics Control make this SUV great in the winter.
As far as the shitty road conditions and ice, that will be more dealt with on the tire side. My recommendation: Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 winter performance tires. With the right tires, it will absolutely do the trick. Every all wheel drive comparison I've done between Quattro and xDrive, the BMW handled better.
It was with the 130i. The feeling was good but the car was sporty typed, and sometime it was sporty under snow but never dangerous. Now with the 328i. I have a hell lot more of traction than the 130i it’s really impressive. I don’t know if rolling train have been improved, but it stick on snow like it was xdrive.
Now might be a good of time to review winter driving settings on your BMW: DTC, DSC, ASC and MDM. About; First, the Polar Vortex then Atlanta crippled by 2.6 inches of snow and ice.
After doing a lot of research I couldn't find a good reason why the Audi was better, so with the help of Nokian Tyres, we've compared and tested the differences between BMW 3 Series XDrive, Audi A4 Quattro and Jaguar XE AWD, on snow and ice. We've tested snow acceleration / traction, snow handling to see which is faster and more fun, ice
I just traded my X5 in on a 2013 335i xDrive and have been looking forward to testing it in the snow. The horrible storm that hit the Midwest yesterday gave me the chance. Amazing traction (all season Continentals) was amazing, especially going 30 MPH on a snow-covered expressway using EcoPro. Always felt in control.
